Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Schoonmaker earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine with her clinical year at University of Florida. She is currently enrolled with Ross University to obtain her Master’s Degree in One Health as well. While she enjoys nurturing the family pet bond for dogs, cats, and exotics now she started out as a biologist working with sea turtles and whales including multi day research boat trips for wildlife surveys. Caring and kind, Dr. Schoonmaker has special interests in preventative medicine, dentistry, and especially exotics. She is experienced with reptiles, small mammals, birds, potbelly pigs, and wildlife.

When she’s not at work Dr. Schoonmaker enjoys exploring the Colorado outdoors including hiking, camping, reading, and wildlife. A native of New York and Pennsylvania Dr. Schoonmaker shares her home with dogs Bowen and Sorrel, and yellow-bellied slider turtle Sam.
