A full-service hospital for all your pet-care needs. We see dogs, cats and exotics. |
Services
From dog diarrhea to cat vomiting to vaccines, our animal hospital’s veterinarians are experts in caring for dogs, cats and all exotics including fish, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits and reptiles. We love ‘em all!
We offer Senior Citizen and Military discounts, so please don’t hesitate to ask.
Wellness & Preventative Care
Dogs and cats age much more quickly than we do, and the gradual onset of disease in seemingly healthy pets will often go unnoticed. When symptoms do appear, the condition may be difficult to treat and result in costly treatment. To avoid unnecessary cost and provide the best quality of life for your pet, we recommend regularly scheduled wellness exams. Ongoing dental care, vaccinations, fecal testing (to control parasites), exercise and a well-balanced diet are key factors in disease prevention.
Senior Care
Seniors, which include dogs and cats over seven years old, need extra care and today, more than ever, we’re able to make your pet’s golden years pain-free and joyful. Studies indicate that 20% of seniors have serious undetected medical conditions, which is why we offer a Senior Wellness Program comprising a physical exam twice a year as part of an early detection regimen to help sustain a high quality of life for your aging pet.
Exotics
We’re one of the few hospitals on the Front Range that offer care for exotics, providing the same level of compassion and quality medicine including surgery, radiology, acupuncture, home care education and nutritional advice.
We treat all exotics including fish, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits and reptiles.
Dentistry
- Periodontal Treatment (teeth scaling and polishing)
- Extractions & Root Canals
- Endodontics
Dental health is just as important for animals as it is for people. Your pet will receive the same high-quality dental care that you expect from your dentist or oral surgeon. After treatment we’ll teach you how to care for your pet’s teeth and make other recommendations to prevent future serious dental problems and disease. We also have board-certified veterinary dentists available to treat specialized conditions while under our care.
Surgery
We provide surgery services for a wide range of conditions including:
- soft tissue
- spay and neuter
- declawing
- orthopedic
- ophthalmic
- tumor removal
- TPLO joint and ligament surgery
We use only the safest anesthesia and provide epidurals and other advanced forms of pain-relief medications for your pet's comfort. We also employ the same type of patient-monitoring systems (EKG, respirator, and blood oxygen and pressure monitors) used in human medicine to ensure the safety of your pet. We’ll call you immediately following surgery but you are certainly welcome to wait in our client comfort area during the procedure. You’re encouraged to visit during business hours while your pet is with us, and you can always call to check on your pet's status with one of our nurses.
Pain Management
We use only the best and most advanced pain medication and techniques available. We offer epidurals and nerve blocks for dental and surgical procedures, and can treat acute and chronic pain with acupuncture and/or innovative medications.
Acupuncture
Dr. Cogswell is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist with a certification from Colorado State University. She’s also a member of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
This ancient modality can be very successful in treating animals for pain, arthritis, digestive problems, organ dysfunction and anxiety. Most pets lie down, yawn and really enjoy the treatment! The procedure is not more expensive than traditional medicine and can be an effective component of your pet’s medical care.
Radiology
X-rays allow us to easily see inside your pet to better diagnose what’s going on. We also have board-certified radiologists available to review x-rays when necessary. Our well-trained and compassionate staff will carefully handle your pet during radiology procedures.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless diagnostic tool for viewing the internal organs and evaluating function. It’s often better than x-rays for diagnosing many conditions. Swallowed foreign objects, tumors and diseases can be discovered without surgery.
Ultrasound can also help with early detection of pregnancy and facilitate fetal monitoring later in gestation.
Emergency Medicine
We accept emergencies from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. After business hours we refer to Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Parker (720-842-5050) and will monitor your pet’s condition overnight with the emergency hospital
Many situations constitute an emergency, but call us immediately if your pet is:
- bleeding
- having trouble breathing
- unable to walk or put any weight on a leg
- injured after being hit by a car
- injured after falling from a tall height
- unconscious
- having a seizure or fainting
- vomitting repeatedly or has dry heaves
- bloated or has a distended (extended) abdomen
- sick from having eaten something poisonous or chewed/swallowed anything dangerous
- unable to open an eye or has an eye injury
- not able to urinate or defecate
- having a hard labor (longer than a half hour)
Micro-chipping
We recommend that every dog and cat receive a painless microchip placed under the skin between the shoulders for a lifetime of protection and identification.
Nutrition, Diets, Supplements and Treats
We have a variety of prescription and non-prescription diets, treats and supplements from Hills, IVD, Purina and C.E.T.
